Coating is process of depositing a resin over Textile subtracts on one and two sides. The coating of great versatility. Such products are used in automotive industry, geo textile, aerospace and outdoor wearing. The chemical coating is a formulation that can be applied to any material with the aim of enhancing certain properties of or giving new properties to that material.

The different type of properties of chemical coating can give include water repellence, flame retardancy, durability, anti-static and different colours.

Few Coating Techniques :

  • Direct coating : The coating chemicals is spread on textile.
  • Transfer Coating: Coating is spread onto paper which form a film that is then laminated on textile.
  • Spray Coating:  Coating is spread directly onto the textile. Extrusion coating- plasticised coating is passed through a sheeting die.
  • Foamed coating: Normally used for knitted or woven fabrics, a foam coating lies on the surface of the textile.

Hence today the textile coating is used in many Industries apart from fashion like

  • Agriculture : crop cover, bags etc.
  • Clothing- outdoor wear, artificial leather etc.
  • Home furnishing- upholstery, carpet, curtain, backing and bedding etc.
